When to Get BOTOX®, Filler, Facials, Peels, and Lasers Before an Event
Planning skin treatments before photos, weddings, galas, or travel? Learn when to schedule BOTOX®, filler, facials, peels, and lasers without last-minute surprises.

Great event skin is planned backward.
If there is a wedding, trip, photoshoot, gala, or presentation on the calendar, the safest skin plan starts with the date and works backward. That gives your provider room to choose treatments that fit the timeline instead of forcing recovery into a tight window.
If you are planning a wedding specifically, also read the Houston Wedding Skin Timeline. This guide is broader for any major event where you want skin, injectables, and recovery timing to feel predictable.

Several months before: build the plan.
This is the best window for treatment series and bigger changes. Your provider may discuss lasers, microneedling, Morpheus8®, chemical peel series, acne control, pigment planning, or ZO Skin Health routines.
If you want filler or facial balancing, starting early gives swelling time to resolve and lets your provider make conservative adjustments if needed.
Six to eight weeks before: refine.
This window may fit BOTOX® or Dysport® planning, conservative filler, peel series, HydraFacial® maintenance, or product adjustments. It is also a good time to avoid making dramatic changes without a reason.
For injectables, early planning matters because results need time to settle. For peels and lasers, the provider needs to consider pigment risk, sun exposure, and downtime.
Two to four weeks before: avoid surprises.
This is usually the window for predictable treatments your skin already tolerates. Many patients choose HydraFacial®, dermaplaning, light peels when appropriate, or a review of home care.
Be careful with new actives, aggressive exfoliation, or first-time treatments close to photos. The goal is polish, not drama.
Final week: keep it calm.
The final stretch is not the time to test a new peel, new retinoid, new filler plan, or aggressive laser. Focus on hydration, sleep, SPF, simple skin care, and avoiding the panic pivot.
Event treatment timing guide.
- BOTOX® or Dysport®: plan several weeks ahead when possible so the result can settle.
- Lip filler or dermal filler: schedule with enough time for swelling and bruising to resolve.
- HydraFacial®: often a strong option closer to the event when glow and hydration are the goal.
- Chemical peels: timing depends on peel depth. Stronger peels need more recovery room.
- Lasers or IPL: plan around sun exposure, pigment risk, and social downtime.
- Microneedling or Morpheus8®: start early enough for redness, sensitivity, and collagen remodeling.
Common event-prep questions.
How soon before an event should I get BOTOX®?
Plan several weeks ahead when possible. BOTOX® needs time to activate and settle, and your provider may want follow-up time.
Can I get lip filler right before photos?
It is not ideal. Lip filler can swell or bruise, so schedule with enough time for the lips to settle.
What facial should I get before an event?
HydraFacial® is often a good option when you want glow, hydration, and minimal downtime. Your provider should confirm what fits your skin.
Should I get a chemical peel before a wedding?
Sometimes, but timing and peel depth matter. If the event is close, a lighter treatment may be safer.
What should I avoid the week before an event?
Avoid first-time aggressive treatments, new strong actives, picking, over-exfoliating, and sun exposure.
Best next step.
If your event is months away, start with consultation and a plan. If it is soon, choose predictability. Compare BOTOX®, Dermal Filler, HydraFacial®, Chemical Peels, and Lasers, or take the skin quiz if you are not sure what your timeline allows.
